Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"This place is great. The service is a bit slow however the food is well worth the wait. The Molcajete was hands down the best I’ve ever had. (Which is saying something since I always order it if it’s on the menu at a new place. (Of note if you have allergies might want to either be very specific or avoid.)"
"This was one of the best meals I have ever had! The food was cooked perfectly, the staff were incredible, attentive and worked together so well. The food came quickly and we opted for Mayan coffee at the end which was a very fun show! We enjoyed the vibrancy on the streets below, and the mariachi band that came up and played in the restaurant during our meal. I had the mariachi tacos and each one was better than the last. I can’t wait to return here time and time again! Oh and do not overlook the lobster tacos- your life will never be the same."
"We have been here several times over the last few years. As always, our service was great and our food was perfect. We had a lot of fun with our server Martin and would highly recommend requesting him when you visit. Our favorite is the tacos Pastor."
"We stayed at a resort about 20 minutes north of Playa Del Carmen. Used a cab service and asked the driver to take us to a local restaurant that served good food. This is the place he took us to, smack on la Quinta Avenida (5th Avenue) very popular touristic avenue full of shops and restaurants and street performers etc... La Parrilla is a very nice restaurant, very opened and aerated. Because it's opened, you still get a good view of traffic, also view the the 5th avenue and the everyday life and often get some street performers too. We chose the upstairs with top view on the street. Occasionally yes you have that one car or motorcycle with loud muffler etc but that part of the everyday noise so wasn't a negative in my view. The servers speak decent English and are very nice, friendly and professional. They'll occasionally drop a joke here and there but nothing offensive or outrageous. They took our order for drinks and then appetizers. I knew this place would be good as we ordered chips and guacamole and they literally make that guac in front of you, throwing in all the spices and condiments and avocado and mix it up for you. Best guacamole I've ever had bar none. And we lived in Texas for years and had our fix of TexMex. Not even close. The appetizers were delicious and then came the main dish we ordered and all of it was just so good we wanted more. Definitely recommend the place. Even had a mariachi guy with a guitar playing some very popular tunes like La Bamba, Cancion dEl Mariachi (from the movie Desperado sung by Antonio Banderas), Guantanamera etc... Now be mindful they already slap a "fee" on the receipt that's a tip (service fee) but we still left extra since you never know how these are distributed. All in all excellent place to grab either a quick bite or just eat good food and enjoy drinks. And they don't wimp out on alcohol in their drink. They load it. One margarita from there might take you over the edge so be mindful of that. Give this place a try."
"This place is so cute! Is on a second floor over looking 5th Avenue (5a Avenida). The service was fast and friendly. The food was delicious with great seasoning. I asked for a chicken tortilla soup and it was so flavorful! My husband asked for bistec al carbon and was very satisfied! We also got guacamole and it was prepared in front of our eyes! They have a range in prices. We most definitely will be coming back!"
"The fajitas at this location were amazing. Comes with fresh guacamole. Portions are large. Our server was great and all around atmosphere was nice."
"A bit overpriced in my opinion but I think it's due to the location. The food was delicious and the service was great. We saw the table next to us order some Kaluhua drink with vanilla ice cream, it looked delicious. I ordered the Tampiqueña steak, cooked perfectly, and fried calamari, wouldn't recommend those. The batter was very crumbly."
"Super nachos with chicken and beef were AMAZING & so filling 2 of us only ate 1/2. We also got the guacamole which is made fresh at the table and a wow margarita which was so fresh and delicious. Prices were very fair. Definitely recommend!!"
